    TikTok Launches SoundOn

TikTok Launches a Music Distribution Platform, SoundOn

TikTok has recently announced the launch of their new platform SoundOn, an all-in-one music marketing and distribution platform. SoundOn was designed to help empower new and undiscovered artists within the app and help them develop and build their careers.

This new feature will allow creators to upload their music straight to TikTok and begin earning royalties whenever their music is used. TikTok has stated, “SoundOn pays out 100% royalties to music creators in the first year and 90% after that, and provides a range of promotional tools and support.”¹

After following a beta testing period, SoundOn is now fully launched and available in the U.S., U.K., Brazil, and Indonesia. The number of artists opting into this program has been growing steadily and is projected to keep growing.

What Support Tools Come With SoundOn

SoundOn also comes with support tools to help ensure that artists can reach their goals and have their music heard. Those support tools include audience insight and development notes, advice from a dedicated SoundOn artist team, access to TikTok’s song tab, and promotional support through creator marketing within the app.²

Music distribution will not be limited to just TikTok but will include other streaming services such as Resso, Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, Deezer, and Tencent’s Joox. As a result, fans’ loyalty will be able to transcend TikTok and allow them to build audiences on other streaming platforms.

SoundOn can be a powerful lure for creators who are trying to make a name for themselves within the music industry. With TikTok being a new hub for distribution, they have the opportunity to attract new audiences within the app.

    The Potential SoundOn Has

Music plays a vital role in the TikTok community as many creators have had their music go viral on the app. SoundOn will encourage creators to make music and promote trending hits.

The SoundOn website notes, “When you release through our platform, our team will activate diverse creators to make videos with your track. This helps you broaden your fanbase and reach new communities that these creators are a part of.”³

Overall, TikTok is focused on helping guide creators on their journey to the big stage.
